How to get yourself MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY prepared for Summer!

Anyone that knows me, knows there is nothing Winter about me! I am a Summer gal 100%! So I literally do my happy dance and get so excited when I know Summer is just around the corner!

For all of my Aussie tribe, yes, it is almost that time of year again! Spring is only ONE more month away, already. Can you believe it!?  As much as it gets me excited, I also know for some, it can feel overwhelming, you may lack confidence and start to feel anxious, or just in general, don’t make the most of it because you just don’t know how.

And that’s ok, because your summer fairy is here to guide the way 😉

Personally, I have found the BEST time to mentally and physically prepare yourself for summer, is towards the middle to end of winter. So to make sure that you all head in to this special season feeling physically and mentally awesome, I have put together my very own list to help you prepare…

How to become mentally prepared…

Start meditating – Meditating will calm your mind, bring you clarity and bring you back to the present moment. It almost acts as a detox for your mind, and what better way to start the summer with a clear, focussed mind (side note – make this a daily ritual, forever!)

Begin morning affirmations – Naturally, in summer, we tend to be happier and more positive, but what better way to head in to the hot season already feeling positive and happy!? Repeating affirmations every morning is one way to ensure this will happen. Affirmations, also known as a mantra, is verbally focussing on and acknowledging what it is you want to attract more of to your life by imagining you already have it. For e.g. If you want more financial freedom, your affirmation might be ‘I have an abundance of money and more than enough to do the things I love’ Now it is your turn, pick ANYTHING you want, and start planting the seed to bring it to fruition. Write a list of affirmations down and repeat them to yourself every day.

Fall in love with you – Let’s face it, summer is the season we can struggle with confidence. We tend to be our biggest critic. I want you to start, not just now, and not just for summer, but for the rest of your life, falling in love with YOU! It is time to start building your confidence so you can rock what yo’ mumma gave ya! And I mean rocking’ your fav bikini with confidence and embracing every inch, and every curve you have. I don’t want you to keep this love temporary, I mean fall in love with you for the rest of your life girl because you are gorgeous, and I want you to start owning that!

Set fresh goals – Because why not!? It is a new season, a fresh start, use this time as an opportunity to set some fresh new goals. A clean slate and a revamped vision might be just what you need to kick this summer off in full swing. Get out your favourite journal and pen, and start brainstorming some new goals to work on! Make this summer your most productive one yet.

How to become physically prepared…

Get active! – Yes, you have heard it before and I will say it again. Why? Because it is a must! It is certainly a way to build that confidence you are after and release those happy endorphins. Make sure what ever it is, you are doing something you enjoy, something that makes you feel good. Zumba, Yoga, Gym, running outdoors, find what it is that really gets those happy hormones raging, and make a promise to yourself to move your body every day, even if it is only for 20 minutes. Your body will thank you for it

Dose up on your green juice and water – Oh yes! I want you to make green juice your new BFF. Use it as a way to detoxify your insides and get rid of any toxins or water bloat. Drinking  water is also an obvious must and non negotiable. Start getting in at least 2L a day for a natural detox, energy and mood boost and for all over better function of your body. If you can stick to this for the next 30 days, I can guarantee you are going to feel a whole lot better!

Declutter your house/room – You know those clothes you have been holding on to, or that junk that has been sitting around just piling and piling up that you are ‘going to use’ one day? Let’s face it, you aren’t going to, so just get rid of it. Pass on your clothes to charity and give it to people that will use them. And as for your other bits and pieces you have piling up, an important part of clearing your mind, is making sure your physical environment around you is clutter free too, so get rid of the rubbish. Revamp your room maybe, change things around, turn your house and room in to your own little sanctuary.

Start a daily ritual for your body – You should already be doing this anyway, but if not, that is ok, now is the time to start! As we tend to show a bit more flesh in summer, don’t you want to have soft, smooth, glowing skin? Our skin drys up quite a bit in winter, so a top tip from me that I practice DAILY is my dry body brushing. This is amazing for many health reasons. It gets rid of any dry skin, softens your skin, and helps the circulation of the lymph nodes as well as reduces cellulite. WINNING! I also love to finish it off by plastering coconut oil all over my body.
