Fear. It is that four letter word that lives in every single one of us. It is that feeling you get when your heart beats faster, your stomach feels empty, you feel nauseous, uncertain, fuzzy and uncomfortable. For a lot of us, it can feel like the worst thing in the world (so we think)
Well I am about to rock your world, and tell you something you may, or may not have heard before. I want you to know the truth about fear, and why you need to dive right in to it! I am going to share with you what I have learnt about fear.
Firstly, fear is nothing but a perception or belief you have made up in your own mind about something. Which means it is actually not even real. It is YOUR own version of reality and the truth. Fear also cannot harm you in any way as it is simply just a thought. The number ONE mistake most people make when they feel fear is they ‘resist’ it. Which in my eyes is perfectly normal right? When we don’t like something, or if we are scared of something, we resist it and try to avoid it. So it seems perfectly normal to want to run in the opposite direction when we feel fear.
What I am going to ask you to try on the next time you feel fear, is to actually JUMP right in to it. And I mean picture fear as a massive ocean, and you are standing on a cliff, looking down at it, scared as all hell procrastinating whether or not to JUMP in. Then I want you to take a deep breath, and just jump! This is how I want you to tackle fear. Head on.
You see fear pops up for a few reasons. It shows up to be our greatest teacher. Yet we don’t give it that credit. It shines a spot light on exactly what we are actually resisting in life, and need to work through in order to grow physically, mentally and spiritually. When we jump right in to fear, we are actually giving ourselves the opportunity to have exactly what we seek in life. But instead of listening to the message fear is trying to tell us, we resist it and revert back to our ‘default’ mode.
When we stay stuck in our default mode, (aka, your comfort zone) we are actually letting fear control the outcomes in our life, instead of us dictating the outcome. And at that very moment that you feel fear, you have two options. You can either let fear take over by resisting it and ignoring the hidden message, or you can dive right in to it, step away from your familiar, and use fear to your advantage as an open door to new adventures.
You may have a fear around MONEY, LOVE, career, food, the list goes on! Which means what ever you are fearful of, there is something about that situation you are actually resisting. Ever notice if you have a fear around money, you seem to never have any? Or if you have a fear around love, you either aren’t in a relationship or you seem to screw up every relationship you are in? That is because the very thing you are resisting, you are actually attracting more of it! Crazy huh!?
This is the exact reason why I invite you to dive right in to your fear, and not be afraid of it. If you can do that, you are allowing yourself to work through the things you are resisting to then create the life you DO want. Will it feel uncomfortable? Yes, for a little while maybe. But so does feeling fear does it not? Remember nothing changes when we are glued to our comfort zone.
So the next time fear shows up in your life, take a deep breath my darling, remember it cannot hurt you. Ask it, what are you trying to tell me here? What am I resisting now, that if I work through will set me free to a life of freedom and a life I desire.
